This Is Not Where We Belong- Chapter 5
This Is Not Where We Belong- Chapter 5
Josh's POV
Hayley was surprisingly calm when I told her about Belle and Elliot, who were both dead. I guess she was used to the fact that in our world, people dying was regular. You should actually be surprised you're still alive, especially in Hayley's case. I wiped a tear away from her cheek.
"Don't cry, sweetie. Belle knew what she was fighting for. It was her own choice. And you're still here." I soothed Hayley, who was silently crying. Hayley was amazingly kind and compassionate; she had barely know Belle for less than 24 hours. Tinsley and Jeremy entered the room. Hayley waved. Tinsley ran to her side and gave her a big hug.
"Hayley, I'm so happy you're okay!" she cried. Hayley smiled and hugged her back. "What hurts?" Tinsley asked.
"Just.... Everything. Haha." Hayley muttered dryly, though she was smiling. The poor girl was thoroughly bruised, had a broken arm, and staples in her head. They had done it without shaving her hair, thank god. The doctor walked in then and gently removed Tinsley's arm from around Hayley.
"You're a popular one, aren't you?" the doctor asked. Hayley nodded shyly. "You know only family is allowed to see you, correct?" he asked. She smiled.
"This is my family." she said, looking him straight on. And no one could doubt the love in her eyes.
2 months later
We were finally on the move again. Elliot's betrayal had slowed us down quite a bit, but at least we had killed 4 witches in the process. If Hayley hadn't woken up and noticed the lights when she did, we could have all been dead. We were heading to Pheonix, Arizona now. We planned to stay there for about a week. Hayley needed to rest. We pulled in to the parking lot of a fancy hotel. Like, Four Seasons type fancy. We all gaped at Tinsley. Sure we had the money, but we didn't want to be so conspicuous. The valet man parked our car, and we walked into the lobby. We seemed so shabby among the important business people, CEO's, and spoiled Louis Vuitton hangbag carrying divas. We had no luggage, and we were filthy. We got our room key; room 3957. That meant floor 39. Oh god, Jeremy was terrified of heights. He was even jittery on the elevator ride up. He refused to even look out the window when we got to the room (not that there was much of a view; it was Arizona for goodness' sake) and took the bed close to the door. We all flopped down and decided to get a good night's sleep.
Ugh sorry for shortness; this is really a filler chapter. Ok, so the first people that ask can be the next two parts coming up in the story. Two sisters that are like Josh and them, or may not join the gang. Haha that sounds funny!! Just tell me your name k?? (:

This Is Not Where We Belong- Chapter 4
Hayley's POV
I woke up and the room was still dark. Josh's arm was across me, pulling me close to him. As if he wanted to protect ne while I was sleeping. I saw an ominous red light seeping in our cracked door. There was also a faint chanting.
"Josh." I whispered, squeezing his fingers.
"Hayley, what is it?" he didn't open his eyes, but pulled me closer to him.
"I'm scared." I wimpered, burying my face in his chest. He looked up.
"What's that light and sound?" he asked. I shrugged. He got out of bed, pulling me close to him. I peered out the door to see the red light coming from down the hall. I got on Josh's back as he instructed me to, and we were at the source of the red light in a second. I peered around the door to see a crowd of people, and Belle in the middle. She looked terrified.
"Who are those people?" I whispered to Josh. I glanced up to see he was pale as a ghost.
"Witches." he barely dared to breathe the answer. There was a tap on my shoulder. I spun around, scared shitless, to see Tinsley and Jeremy.
"Witches." he whispered. Tinsley let out a small snort.
"More like bitches. Let's fight em." she declared. I peered in the room again. They had surrounded Belle, 4 of them.
"Belle's in trouble. I'll get Elliot, go fight them." i pushed Josh through the door, and heard screams. Elliot was awake when I went in his room.
"Get up, there are-" he cut me off.
"I know, Hayley. I sent them here. You are all so gullible." an evil grin crossed his face. He was suddenly in front of me. He put his hands at my throat.
"Now sweet heart, we can do this the easy way. Or we could do this the hard way." he offered, backing me into a wall. "And your precious Josh won't be here to save you." he sneered, throwing me across the floor. My head hit the side of the metal bed, and I could feel blood seeping out onto my skin. I screamed at the top of my lungs, half in fear and half in pain. But no one came. Elliot approached me.
"You've just made this the hard way, hun." he was right in my face. I screamed and screamed more, but they were too busy with the witches. The next thing I knew, he was holding me by my arm in a grip so tight that, if I survived, would definetley leave a mark. He threw me into the door, slamming it shut. I felt the bone crack a half second before the pain came. That moment, Belle slammed the door open.
"Hayley!" she screamed. Elliot went at her with immense force. She was only half of him. I put my unbroken hand up to my bleeding head before it all went black.
I woke up what seemed like a lifetime later in an unfamiliar, puke green room. Josh was talking to a man in a white coat, who smiled at me.
"She's awake." he whispered. Josh turned around and gasped.
"Hayley!" he cried out, bursting into tears. He gripped my good hand. "Hayley."
"Where's Elliot?" I croaked out.
"Belle took care of him." Josh murmered grimly.
"What about Belle?" I asked. Josh looked down, more tears forming in his eyes. "What about Belle? Belle's okay, right?" I yelled. I squeezed Josh's hand as hard as I could. I started crying, too.
"Hayley, Belle died to save you."
Kind o a cliffhanger!!! Eventful chapter, but sad to write. PLEASE DONT THINK I COPIED TWILIGHT!!! I didn't, I swear. Ok, that's all. Casssidyyy!!!

This Is Not Where We Belong- Chapter 3
Hayley's POV
We left the store really abruptly and headed onto the highway. Tinsley, Jeremy, and Josh were all grumbing about something or other. Elliot seemed to know also, but he kept quiet, and obviously had no intention of telling me.
"We need to get to Fort Worth. Apparently an old friend of mine wants to meet us there." Elliot announced suddenly. Josh gasped.
"Elliot." he said in a quiet, warning tone. But he was ignorned. Tinsley, who was driving, kept her eyes on the road, but she didn't look very happy. Her and Elliot definetley weren't very fond of each other.
"Who?" I asked.
"Someone I knew before I went with you freaks. She's one of us, but only half." that should have made Josh feel somewhat better, but I dint think it did. He didn't really like to interact with anyone who wasn't like them. Except me, of course. Everyone gave their approval except Tinsley. But mine didn't really count.
"We're close now." Josh informed us. It was silent for a while.
"Elliot, check up on the Clouds and such." Jeremy asked. I watched in awe for probably the thousanth time as Elliot's face went blanck and his eyes turned white. He was watching. His tongue flicked around his open mouth, and his nose twitched. He also wasn't breathing. When he was using his power, he didn't have to. Suddenly he snapped back to normal.
"They're fine." he murmered. He directed us to his friend's house once we got to Fort Worth. We pulled in the driveway of a small, cozy house. Elliot was at the door before I had even unbuckled. A beautiful girl stepped out. She had raven black hair cut at her shoulders, and huge blue eyes. She hugged Elliot, then said a few words to him. The next thing I knew, everyone else was at the door, and so was I.
"I got you." Josh whispered, kissing my cheek. I slid my hand into his.
"Hi, you must be Elliot's friends. I'm Belle." she smiled and shook all our hands. Josh seemed to tense uo when she got to him. She seemed kind of confused when she came to me. She whispered something to Elliot, and he shook his head. Probably asking if I was one of them. She invited us on and served tea. Her house was decorated with a lot of art and quirky little things, like that of a painter. We all introduced oursleves and made small talk.
"Woukd you like to stay the night?" she asked. Everyone nodded except Josh. She clasped her hands together. "Good good. I don't have enough rooms for each of you, though..." her voice trailed off.
"You have three, not including yours, don't you?" Elliot asked. Belle nodded. "Well Jeremy and Tinsley share, Josh and Hayley share, and I'll take the last." he suggested.
"Josh and Hayley?" Belle stuttered. "Josh, you don't like mortals. Or have you changed?" she asked innocently enough. Josh put his arms around me.
"I love Hayley." he stated simply.
"Well, then..." Jeremy stood up, breaking the awkward moment. He started talking about football or something. Everyone knew why he changed the subject, but we just played along. Tinsley leaned over to me.
"Josh and Belle used to date." she whispered. Well that explained a lot. We all played poker and black jack until 10 pm, when we decided to sleep we were all so tired. Mine and Josh's room was painted orange, with flowery curtains. We couldn't help but laugh. We got into bed. Josh stroked my cheek.
"We get to sleep in tomorrow!" I said enthusiastically. Josh laughed.
"That's a first." it was kind of the truth. We shut out the ligh and I felt instantly tired.
"Goodnight." I murmered, and fell asleep in Josh's arms.

This Is Not Where We Belong- Chapter 2
Ugh I hate cramming for exams. I want to strangle whoever made the SOLS!!! (The Virginia final exams)
Jeremy's POV
I slid to the backseat and tapped Tinsley's shoulder. I didn't want to wake Hayley up, who was sleeping with her head resting on her. Tinsley turned her head. I saw that she had been crying. I bent down on the floor next to her.
"What's wrong, sweetie?" I whispered. She shook her head.
"Nothing. I-I just feel really bad. I was doing some thinking, and... Look how much we've put Hayley through, Jerms. I mean, there's only so much a mortal can take." she teared up again, her voice cracking. I put my hands on her face.
"Tinsley. Listen. She found us on her own. If she wanted to leave, we've made it perfectly clear that she could. But it would be like a one-way ticket to death. We protect her. Okay?" I reassured her. She nodded, and I kissed her softly. She rested her head against the window, making it clear she didn't want to talk anymore. Tinsley was the newest addition to our 'traveling freak show' as Josh and I so fondly called ourselves. We had found her about 4 months ago in Pennsylvania. She was working in hotel we stayed at. She had known immediatly what we were, because you can just tell. It's one of our senses. We instantly fell in love; Josh calls us soulmates. At around 5, Josh asked me to drive. So I did. He went to the backseat and sat next to Hayley. They were so cute together. So perfect.
Josh's POV
I went to the backseat and left Jeremy behind the wheel when I saw that Hayley was waking up. I took her hand. She opened her eyes and smiled at me.
"Hey." she whispered. "Is everyone else awake?" she seemed slightly confused. I shrugged.
"I think Elliot and Tinsley are asleep. How are you?" I asked. We looked at each other and laughed. Hayley leaned over and kissed me.
"You're adorable." she giggled, collapsing onto my lap.
"Hey guys, up here let's pull over at this gas station and get some breakfast and gas. Wake up Tinsley and Elliot." Jeremy said. I shook Elliot.
"Get up, big guy." I muttered. He turned towards me, yawning.
"I'm hungry." he stated. I laughed. We got out really soon at a 7 Eleven. Elliot led the way, bursting in the door and raiding the store's supply of honey buns. I stopped as soon as I got in. I grabbed Jeremy and Tinsley.
"Do you feel that?" I whispered. They both nodded. There was obviously another one of us in the store besides our little crew. The only other person was the tall, lanky redhead behind the counter.
"Could he be one?" asked Tinsley, pointing to him. I shrugged.
"Let's check it out. We could use another hand around here." Jeremy suggested. I nodded in agreement. I looked around. Only Hayley and Elliot grabbing as much food as their little hearts desired. I walked up to the register.
"Hi, I'm Josh." I said, smiling. He looked up from the magazine he was reading.
"Hi. Can I help you?" he asked. He had a fake smile and her voice shook.
"We know what you are." Tinsley growled, obviously getting straight to the point. That's how Tinsley was. The boy started trembling and threw herself on the counter.
"Don't hurt me!" Hee wailed. I put my hand on his back, glaring at Tinsley.
"It's okay. We're one of you, too. I'm Josh, and these are Jeremy and Tinsley. Over ther are our friends Elliot and Hayley. Hayley is mortal. What's your name?" I asked gently. He looked at us with dull gray eyes.
"I'm Caelen." he whispered. "What are you doing here?" he asked
"We have to run from witches. They try to kill our kind. I would suggest you run too. Because once they find you, they'll stop at nothing to destroy you." Jeremy told him ominously. Caelen started crying again.
"Shhhhh, it's okay!! Look, we run. You can come with us if you want." I offered, silencing Tinsley with a horrible glare. He wrinkled his nose.
"But what about my family?" He asked, cocking her head innocently.
"Are they like you?" Jeremy asked. He shook his head.
"I'm sorry, Caelen. But you would have to leave them behind. But will you join us?" I asked. He pursed his lips.
"Will I be safe?" he asked skeptically. I looked at Jeremy, who shrugged.
"Most likely. More so than here." I answered truthfully. He nodded.
"No. I won't leave." he said stubbornly.
"Fine. Well we'll just buy our food and leave." I told him. So we did.
"God, what a baby. He'll die soon. Once the witches find him, he's toast!" Tinsley ranted once we got in the car. I nodded. It was truly hard to survive on our world.
Grrrr this is not going how I want it!!!! Uhhh well next chapter will be super eventful.

This Is Not Where We Belong- Chapter 1
Hayley's POV
We all sat in a tiny motel lobby while Elliot checked us in. We were somewhere in Texas, that's all I knew. We were playing go fish on a wobbly old table. Tinsley sat on Jeremy's lap. Elliot came back over then.
"Room 314." he grumbled.
"What's your problem?" asked Tinsley.
"I'm fucking tired! Let's go." he grabbed his suitcase and was gone. See, Josh, Tinsley, Jeremy, Elliot, and our cat Mocha all were from some special world-dimension type thing. I didn't really understand it, all I knew was that they could do stuff like run super super fast, and normal 'super-human' things. But everyone had one special power. Tinsley could never be killed in battle. Josh had like, a radar in his head. Jeremy could lie and never be found out. As in, he could go up to some random mortal (including me) and say the sky was falling, and they had to believe it. Elliot could sense things from far away, and see scenes in is head of whatever was happening in that moment somewhere. And Mocha could go invisible. Not very useful though, considering he was a cat. I blinked and everyone was gone except Josh. He held my hand and walked at a normal pace with me. Josh and I were kind of best friends, and kind of boyfriend and girlfriend. We entered the room to see everything already unpacked, and Elliot setting up a Nintendo Wii.
"Where'd that come from?" I asked. Tinsley pointed to Jeremy. I rolled my eyes. He was always stealing stuff.
"How long are we staying here?" Jeremy asked.
"Just a day. We can't be here long; Josh says the Clouds are coming." Elliot replied, stifling a yawn. Jeremy nodded.
"Ell, if you're so damn tired than go to bed." Josh muttered. In a flash the Wii was off and Elliot laying on his sleeping bag.
"Who's taking what bed?" Asked Tinsley.
"Me and Hayley'll take the right, you and Jerms the left." Josh responded, folding down the blankets. We all got into bed and the lights went out. I was almost asleep when Josh started talking to me.
"I wonder what happened to Kasey?" he asked. Kasey was a boy who used to travel with us, but left. I shrugged.
"Josh, I'm tired. Go to sleep." I mumbled. My dreams that night were filled with the horrible Clouds, more witch creatures. 5 years ago I wouldn't have believed any of this. I had been 11 at the time. My family had moved to a depressig Florida swamp from Meridan, Mississippi. I went exploring one day a few months after we got there. That day I met Josh and Jeremy. I also met their mother, who was a witch. Literally. She swore to kill us all. Well, that's kind o already her job. Apparently witches are trained at a young age to kill any of Josh's kind. But their mother, who had once been very kind and beautiful, had taken them in. Now she was more evil than ever. I was 16, Jeremy and Josh were 19, Tinsley was 18, and Elliot was 21. We were always on the move from witches.
Tinsley's POV
"Sweetie, get up. We need to leave." Jeremy whispered, shaking me gently. I rubbed my eyes and looked at the clock. 3:57. I got out of bed and ran around, gathering my things. The only one still asleep was Hayley. We always woke her up last because, honestly, she never really helped us get ready or anything. She tried, but it's kind of hard to match us when you're mortal. Josh woke her up and carried her on his back. We snuck downstairs and out the front entrance easily. The boy at the counter was too busy reading Playboy to notice. We got into our black minivan and looked at the map.
"Where to?" asked Josh. The boys looked at that while I sat with Hayley.
"So, how are things between you and Josh? Are you..." I let my voice trail off, knowing she knew what my question would be.
"We're more going out now than friends." she whispered. I gave her a thumbs up.
"How many babies on the way this time?" I asked. Hayley laughed. It was our joke because the first time her and Josh had had sex, we thought she was pregnant. Hayley fell back asleep with her head on my shoulder. I looked out the window at the passing stars and thought about how much I could really use a wish right now.
Haha notice how I kinda put the lyrics from Airplaines in?? I'm so cheesy haha. Feedback is always nice!! Comments are goinggg wayyyyyyyy down and that makes me sad :( oh well I'll keep writing even if you don't read it!!! Haha ~~~ Cassie (:

Eeeeeepp new fic!!!
Josh's POV
"Yes mother." Jeremy and I repeated. We stood up and gathered the frog's legs and duck feathers she needed. She dropped them in the pot in the middle of our small hut-like home. She stirred it over a bubbling fire until green rings of smoke poured out and formed above her head. Jeremy and I retreated to the outside to see a small, red haired girl. She looked scared, her eyes focusing on the eerily shaped clouds forming behind us.
"You must leave!" whispered Jeremy. "Our mother will stew you and turn you to a soul collector!" she staggered backwards, almost falling into the muggy swamp. I grabbed her arm.
"Why are you here?" I asked. She screamed at the top of her lungs. Mother came bursting out.
"A mortal girl, is that I see? Now a soul sucker she is to be!" Mother yelled to the sky. "I'll make you mine or you shall die!" I scooped up the small girl in my arms. She seemed different than all the others that had died. I ran at a speed I knew no mortal could match. Jeremy flew beside me, his feet like wings. Mother yelled and screeched. All the people outside the swamp could hear.
I woke up from my horrible dream, remembering the day my brother Jeremy and I had rescued Hayley. My mother was a horrid witch. We had saved Hayley from becoming one of her soul collecters. Now we had to run. The other swamp people were always after us. We had picked up a few straglers along the way, ones that believed and had experienced the supernatrual. There was Tinsley, a moderatley sized blonde girl from Oil City, Pennsylvania. She didn't seem like any thing much, but she knew how to kill and she wasn't afraid to. There was also Elliot, a bulky darkhaired boy from Louisiana. And last was our pet cat, Mocha. He was from our world, too. Jeremy and I had started in the Florida swamps, where we found Hayley one day. She was only 11 then. We were both 14. That was years ago, and Mother's threats still haunt us all.
"Guys, get up! There's a Black Horse here. We have to leave." called Tinsley quietly. Black Horses were Mother's scouts. We all packed up our few possesions and kept heading west. We were somewhere in Iowa, but we didn't know exactly. Jeremy picked up Tinsley; they had been obvious soul mates since the moment they met. I held hayley's hand on one side, Elliot on the other. That was the only way a mortal could fly, of course.
Ok I know it's super confusing but it will get clearer!!! And I'll actually update this one. Haha (:

Every Where You Look- Part 2
I thought about Hayley for weeks. School had started, and i didnt really have time. I half expected to see her in the park or around town, but I didn't. It had been about a month, and I had kind of let my hopes go until someone brought it up again.
"What's bothering you, Josh?" Bailey Marie asked. I told her about Hayley. Her eyes were wide and scared.
"Oh my god. Josh, you're not making this up, are you?" she asked. I shook my head slowly. "I think I know who you're talking about. Grandbetty always tells us stories about a girl called Hayley. Ask her." Bailey Marie whispered. She grabbed my hand and pulled me inside her house.
"Ma, where's Grandbetty?" she asked.
"On the back porch. Why?" her mom responded, but Bailey Marie didn't reply. She ran out onto the porch.
"Hi, Bloop. Fancy seeing you, Joshua." I bowed my head to Bailey's Grandma. She always called her Bloop.
"Grandbetty, tell us the stories about Hayley." she demanded.
"When I lived in this house long ago, there was a sweet couple who lived on Joshua's side. The mother died of Pink Eye, poor woman. The father and girl managed along just fine until he remarried. I was 16 at the time, and I was friends with Hayley. She told me about all the abject things her stepbrother Chad did to her. I always hated that boy. He beat her and touched her in terrible ways. In October of 1901, I came outside where Chad and her were fighting. She was a tiny little thing, and he was huge. He pushed her to the ground and beat her with a bat. I ran in terror. The next day, they found her body broken and bloodied in that stream." she finished by pointing a knobby old finger to the brook running by their house.
"I met a girl in the park the other day. She seemed so scared. I saw her later that night again, in my kitchen. She said her name was Hayley. She told me about a stepbrother named Chad who hurt her, and that in was in 1901." I stammered quietly. Grandbetty gripped my arm, her eyes bugging out of her head.
"Dear Joshua. What did she look like?" she whispered in a worried tone.
"Small, pale, with dark blonde hair. Big green eyes and a little gap in her teeth." I answered honestly, giving all the details I could remember. Grandbetty started to cry. Bailey Marie hugged her and told me to go.
I sat on the couch at home and turned on our television. I felt a warm breath on the back of my neck. I turned quickly to see Hayley. She seemed more alive, a small glint in her eyes. She also seemed more solid.
"Hayley. I told my friend about you, and she took me to her grandmother. She told me you used to live here. Is that true?" I asked. Hayley nodded.
"Josh, come on! Come play with me!" she didn't seem to care at all about what I just told her.
"I thought you were scared." I ws extremely confused.
"Mama, whose already crossed, said you were good. Now we can play!" she smiled innocently.
"We can play after you talk to Grandbetty." I compromised. She tilted her head cutely. I bet this girl had had many eyes on her when she lived.
"The girl you used to live next to. She's all grown up with a daughter and grandchildren." I explained.
"You mean Alice? I didn't like her. She had a crush on Chad." Hayley wrinkled her nose. My eyebrows went up.
"She said she hated him!" I exclaimed. She shook her head.
"Ill go talk to her though." Hayley took my hand. Her skin was cold and metalicy feeling. I tried not to flinch. We walked back into Bailey Marie's house. The kitchen was emprty this time. She took me to the back porch, where Bailey Marie sat crying.
"Josh!" she sobbed. "Grandbetty had a heart attack! Ma took her to the hospital!" I hugged her.
"Are you mad?" I asked. She shook her head. I looked at Bayley.
"Who's that?" Bailey Marie asked. The tranlucent figure beside me took a deep breath.
"Hayley."
